Brendan Dawes ace designer and author of one of my favorite design books ‘Analog In, Digital Out‘ has released his latest interactive toy, ‘Doodlebuzz‘. Built using flash, .php and news service Daylife’s api (DayPI), it allows a user to keyword search for news articles with the results being revealed as the user doodles on screen. Part typographic toy, part news aggregator it provides a new way of exploring information; along the nodes of a scribble. It’s worth checking out Brendan’s site which seems to be in constant flux for links to his other experiments.

Channel 4’s Kubrick Season runs from July 15 to July 25. Kicking off the season is Jon Ronson’s ‘Citizen Kubrick‘ documentary. They’re then showing most of Kubrick’s films including the excellent ‘Day of the Fight’ and my favourite ‘Barry Lyndon‘. Left out of the season are ‘A Clockwork Orange’, ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, ‘Dr Strangelove’ and ‘Full Metal Jacket’.
As a taster to the season, C4 have put together a trailer recreating the set from The Shining. Using a single tracking shot with 55 actors including several look-a-likes and original equipment used in the film, it gives Kubrick’s point of view as he walks through the set.
