I love typographic based toys and Wordle created by Jonathan Feinberg. has got to be one of the best I’ve seen so far. It generates editable word clouds from user uploaded text. Prominence is given to words that appear most frequently and the generated clouds can be tweaked by layout, colour and font. Text can be directly pasted in or you can drop in your del.icio.us user name for a tag based cloud. Give it a go.

I’m guessing that every designer has used Frutiger at some point in their career. It’s a corporate staple and one of the typefaces that just works. There’s now a serif version designed by Adrian Frutiger and Akira Kobayashi, based on Adrian’s classic serif Meridien which dates back to 1957. Today also happens to be Frutiger’s 80th birthday. You can send him a birthday message here.
