To keep it going for 18 years must take great resolve and in the case of Jamie Livingston makes for a beautiful but sad story covered by Chris Higgins over at Mental Floss in his story ‘He Took a Polaroid Every Day, Until the Day He Died‘. The 1977 short film by Charles and Ray Eames explores the relative size of things from the microscopic to the cosmic. Zooming out by a factor of 10 every 10 seconds the viewer is transported from an overhead view of a man (10⁰) to the expanses of the universe (10²⁵) and back down, ending with the depiction of the nucleus of an atom (10^-18). Heady stuff.
