A special day, not just for America but for the whole world. Here’s some of the sites and app’s that shared some great content. I was expecting a Twitter meltdown but that didn’t happen. Guess everyone was too wrapped up in the moment.

Yet again Boston.com’s The Big Picture have some fantastic photo coverage in The Inauguration of President Barack Obama including satellite imagery of Capital Hill taken by GeoEye.

Travel site Dooplr have recently generated ‘Personal Annual Reports‘ for all its users which features a breakdown of personal travel taken in 2008.

The report features a timeline of travel which uses creative commons licenced Flickr images for cities along with a carbon breakdown using data provided by AMEE, similar traveller data as well as Dooplr travel maps.

As an example they’ve generated a report for Barack Obama using publicly available data from the Washington Post. It’s a great use of available data and a nice little ‘added value’ touch.
